What’s for dinner? Goulash and Homemade bread served with a cold crisp salad Yum!

So simple and cheap. I think this is one of the those old time recipes from your childhood that feels like HOME.

 

Homemade bread and a tossed salad makes this a perfect filling meal.

 

Mom’s and Granny-Granny’s Goulash

 

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef

1 large yellow onions chopped( large)

1 green pepper chopped (large)

1 Tablespoon minced garlic

1 tomato sauce 15 oz.

1diced tomatoes 15 oz.

1 stewed tomatoes 15 oz.

2 tablespoons Italian seasoning

3 bay leaves

Salt and pepper to YOUR taste

1 tsp Garlic powder

1 tsp Onion powder

1 cup of water

2 cups elbow macaroni COOKED in a separate pot of water.

Your family might want EXTRA noodles so cook extra.

 

Instructions

In a Dutch oven, saute ground beef over medium-high heat until it browns.

Drain any excess grease.

Add garlic and onions to the pot and cook until tender.

Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, stewed tomatoes and water.

Stir

Add the bay leaves, Italian Seasoning, salt and pepper.

Stir to combine.

Cover the pot once again with the lid and let it simmer over medium low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the cooked elbow macaroni 15 minutes before serving and mix in. Let it cook for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Remove from the heat and take out the bay leaves. Let the goulash cool slightly before serving.
