Another family recipe from Mom and Family
I posted these photos of some of her recipes boxes but I thought I would do it again.
There is NOT enough money in this world to buy these from me.

Mom’s applesauce Cake
Butter for greasing the pan
1- 1/2 sugar divided
2 tablespoon cinnamon divided
2 granny smith apples
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup applesauce
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1- 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
pinch of cloves
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Butter the sides and the bottom of a bunt pan.
In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. (mom’s notes… kids, sprinkle about a teaspoon of brown sugar into this mixture like I do)
take 1/2 the mixture and sprinkle the bottom of the buttered pan with it.
Set aside the other half of the mixture.
Peel, core and then thinly slice the apples and set them aside.
In a medium bowl stir together the remaining 1 -1/4 cup of sugar, oil, and the applesauce.
Add the eggs and extract last and mix.
In another bowl sift the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, cloves. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix until dampened. DO NOT OVER MIX. If you do, it will be so tough. (Mom’s notes, “just like my pancake batter, and others”)
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and sprinkle the top with the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.
Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Let the cake cool about 1/2 hour before removing from the pan.
Always flip AWAY from yourself. NEVER towards you, the melting sugars with burn you badly.
To do so place a larger plate or platter on the top of the pan. Hold tight and turn over. Be careful of the melted butter and sugars. Don’t let them splash on you. keep the plate tight on top while flipping.
